SETI QA: Reminder about an event that will happen on December 18th on the SAMS calendar. Testing for a fix to a Middleware logoff problem with the DAT. Not sure when this might occur.
Added after meeting:
1. Middleware will be using their maintenance window on Monday, 16 Dec 5-7am for configuration changes and a DAT Logout update. The usual disclaimer applies:
Middleware services will be impacted as follows:
UP - These services will not be impacted
CAS, Shibboleth, EDs (Auth, Lite, ID)
DOWN - These services may experience outages
DAT, People Search, Group Manager, Guest Access Manager, PIDGen, MyVT, Middleware Web Services
Replication (e.g. password changes) may be delayed.
Jean Plymale is starting to send out e-mail notes reminding folks they need to accept their roles on various COOP and Assessment teams. This is an audit requirement to ensure people understand their responsibilities vis-a-vis the various DR planning efforts. Jean will continue to try to ensue people their roles. Any questions can be referred to Jean. Differences between the COOP Coordinator and a member of the Assessment team might need clarification.
Susan Brooker-Gross discussed the meeting that took place related to Pillar 6 of the IT Strategic Plan, which is Communications. SAMS was mentioned due to our role in announcing maintenance activities. Scott is interested in templates especially for de-provisioning services and systems. Specific interest exists in the calendar aspect of the announcement function. We may need to push the SAMS Google-based calendar as the new paradigm to include standing maintenance windows and deployment windows -- such as CNS' Tuesday/Thursday morning slots and TLOS' graduation day updates.
Impact of In Common Silver certification on existing USB based e-tokens. Mainly impacts TAS users, about 34 people, right now. Updates have to occur probably by the end of the calendar year if possible. Encryption algorithms need to be updated on the client side to interact with the server side of TAS. Nothing will stop working if we don't make that date, however.
One-time passwords (OTP) services are in use for some applications now that IMS administers.
UCS: Winter Session support:
· Call Center Operators will be staffing the call center 24x7, as usual, through the closing to reset passwords, report/escalate system outages and take tickets related to Scholar – to escalate to UCS/4Help
· UCS and TLOS will provide LIMITED support for Winter Session tickets only (scholar, escalation to other groups) from Friday, Dec 20 – Friday, Jan 3. Someone will either be at UMALL or be checking the queue from home (checking from home on weekend days, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day)
· We have a Winter Closing page on the wiki with pertinent information for staff who are working – it is a work in progress
· Our 4Help webform will have verbiage indicating tickets received during the closing, with the exception of Scholar and accessing course material, will be addressed on Jan 2nd
· Joyce has obtained a list of emergency contact information and we will have a “manager on call” – Flex, Mike, Teresa, Brian and Joyce
· Joyce will send a note out, this week, to ESS customers informing them of a change in procedures – they MUST call and state they need an ESS ticket put in
· Questions? Call Joyce
