CCS:

The CCS System Admins have a couple of Active Directory DNS maintenance items.

Both will be on Thursday, June 28th from 5-7pm. First activity is swapping out an old DNS server for a new one  but keeping the same IP (198.82.162.237).  This should be largely transparent for end users.

The second involves the IP for the secondary AD DNS server is changing from 198.82.162.237 to 198.82.145.6.  This will require user action to change their secondary DNS entry if using AD DNS. Some type of communication will be forthcoming for this activity. (I'm assuming there is a strong technical reason the second server IP needs changing where the first server was kept the same, but asking to be sure.)

SIS:

Student ID suppression will change due to new law (HB1) that becomes effective on July 1. Also local addresses for employees will be suppressed by default. Essentially all defaults will be for suppression and privacy.

NI&S/NII:

Burruss switch room generator is having some water leakage so some work will have to be done to correct this. A date for work will be provided. Only impact would be if commercial power goes out while work is ongoing.

DCP:

Still some NetApp changes needed and pending. Last week of June, DC generators will be maintained. Only impact would be if commercial power goes out while work is ongoing.

Riverside 2, location of the VT Carilion Research Institute and the VTC School of Medicine,  will lose network access over night tonight. From 7pm until midnight, voice service will be interrupted for cut-over to the VT managed system. From midnight to 6am tomorrow, the fiber link to the building will be relocated due to construction, so internet service will be disrupted as well.

NI&S App Mgmt:

VT Alerts testing will be scheduled for sometime before fall semester, but not scheduled yet.
