Data Center Management:
A couple of items of note for the SAMS group (I will miss the next meeting on the 12th, and by then these may be already done).
SIS:
1. From Middleware: January 2, 2018 - tentative/proposed date for required 2FA ED Auth access; STILL UNDER DISCUSSION. An ITSO project; adjunct for non-CAS/non-Windows project. Access to ED auth will be curtailed, but early adopters are welcomed. Meetings with DoIT departments to identify issues. A new piece (JSON Web Token) will be available to users on July 31st, 2017.
2. Account Creation Process / Google SAML migration. To be done together, and we need a date. Proposing Monday, January 22, 2018, during the normal Middleware maintenance window. These changes incorporate password complexity (including length; see attachment), PID length increase to 16 (may impact limitations that could be encoded in apps), potentially other changes. Major update; will affect guest accounts and alumni accounts. PIDs will be used by alumni to access Google Apps and 2Factor will be enforced.
CCS:
Patching due this weekend; important Exchange patch available. Probably Saturday; will alert SAMS group. Little to no notice by users due to cloud and new configuration of front-end servers for redundancy.
DBAA:
ODA in two sites; AISB and Cassell. Cassell due next Monday.
And DC Ops; Joker will be replaced tomorrow morning.
ITEE:
Everyone in the new VTOC; includes all the student employees from Gateway Center, including Get Connected.
NI&S NII:
Batteries in UPS units in Cassell, Shanks, Hillcrest, and AISB switchrooms will be replaced in Aug
DC Operations:
ARC/HPC Research computing outage scheduled for GPFS maintenance and consulting on Monday, July 24th, 2017. 5 days scheduled; clusters will be released for use as they become available, but Cascades is likely to be out entire period.
