- IT P&C: Communications Committee used the Jolt for different purposes
Communications Committee encourages all to continue to share info on outages, planned and unplanned, and upgrades. Let them help you! Comm committee is still working on trying to define MS offerings so public can better understand the online services being offered, some for free, some for cost. Effort will be made to communicate options, both local and cloud offerings based on recommendations for use due to data sensitivity. (Further discussion will ensue.)
- Governor's Committee on Cyber-Security will be having a town hall meeting at the Inn on February 24th at 1:30pm. Registration is requested.
- E.S.: Undergrad Decision Audits will be going on next month, so please don't break anything. :) You can see the specific dates here: https://apps.es.vt.edu/ons/calendar/m/2015-03 (Events calendar)
- SETI: New Manager in SIES, Mike Anderson (from E.S.); now that leadership is in place, upgrades of issued server certs will be going to SHA256. Old certs will expire eventually, but new certs will issued to requesting agencies. Testing underway on the MAC, within a week or two Windows testing will be complete. Should be possible to receive new certs within a couple of weeks/SHA1 holders will be contacted.
- Added after meeting; from Brian Long:
Although testing does continue on the latest SafeNet client release (9.0), the release of the SHA-256 updated certs does not depend upon it. Thus, the SHA-256 certs may be pushed to production sooner rather than later. Announcement is imminent (after my 2:30 meeting with Mike Anderson). We will be posting to TechSupport and 4Help as well as updating the SAMS calendar.
- E.D. 4.0 has been pushed to dev; will be going to PreProd soon, but no date yet set.
