December 2014 meeting

DBAA: DBAA will be doing some banner installs this Sunday 6am-10am.  See the calendar entry here (https://apps.es.vt.edu/ons/event/view/1497?date=2014-12-14) for details.

CNS: There will be code upgrades for some of our network switches across campus that require a lengthy upgrade time (about 30 minutes each) during the break week. Many of these upgrades will occur simultaneously but will take out network service in various buildings for approximately 30 minutes at a time. These upgrades have been postponed until this time frame due to the lengthy process. These outages will be announced via VT-DNET.

Winter Session discussion: 

Scot looked up the dates for the online and residential parts of Winter Session: December 27 - January 17.  Joyce will write up a list of covered services and post it to the UCS wiki.

Discussion ensued about when to schedule NetApp maintenance so that is doesn't conflict with Banner maintenance.  NetApp maintenance takes out Scholar, so it can't be done when classes are in session.  The tentative dates are January 17th, January 18th, and March 7th.  More details soon.
